Appropriation is the taking of something derogatory forone’s own use, typically without permission. It is also considered the technique of reworking the already existing image and/or meaning through one’s work. The true purpose is to change it and help uplift those that have been disempowered by it. Do not give it back its original power or empower those that originally used it to do the same. Face it and embrace it because you can never erase it, but you can create something beautiful to replace.
