SALSA BRUJA

A bilingual performance of classic Salsa songs performed with the Brujalicious Quintet.

 

Performance history: Produced by  Pepatián: Bronx Arts ColLABorative and presented in collaboration with Wave Hill inside the Armor Hall Ballroom in 2017.

Audience: General Audience

Length in minutes: Currently 45 minutes and ideal for a mixed program.

Space required: This work needs a space with good acoustics and room for a band and 3 dancing couples.

Preparation required: This program requires load-in and tech the day prior to the performance day.

General technical requirements:  Wood floor is preferable (no concrete). The work is adaptable to different indoor and outdoor stages. Need access to plugs for the electronic keyboard.

Community Engagement Activities:

Local Salsa dancers are invited to perform with the band.  Salsa teacher and cultural emissary Nilsa De La Luz can work with local dancers in advance of the performance.

Caridad De La Luz can offer workshops on song writing: participants will be coached through a writing session and they will learn my favorite techniques in structuring a song from their writing; participants will explore techniques in creating melodies, hooks and harmonies.
