Testimonials

Rod Starz of Rebel Diaz – I learned a lot from watching you perform. I recall thinking, ‘she’s rockin’ out like there’s 1000 people here and it was a small community center crowd. I dead ass learned from that – and to this day I rock like that, no matter who is there. When I finally rocked 10,000 people in Greece – I was so ready cuz of all the shows we had rocked from before. Me and my bro even commented about it recently after rockin’ a huge crowd in Chile. Much love and respect always comrade.

Bobby Sanchez – You are an inspiration to the Latinx community, before I met you, I never heard anyone do poetry/rap in English and Spanish. Also you are the most politically aware artist I’ve ever known personally. My appreciation for you is strong and I will always support your work .

K7 of TKA – To my dear friend, you opened my mind to want to find more depth lyrically. Between the love songs in TKA and the party track as K7, I found myself lost hearing and watching your performances… they were grounding and inspiring, pointing me inward and helping me find balance.

DJ Ivan “Doc” Rodriguez – You are an incredible inspiration to Latinas, Sistas and most of all Women. You are immensely talented, yet humble and kind, truly gifted and compassionate. You represent your community hardbody and I respect that. I am honored to have your name listed in my repertoire of artists that I have been blessed to have worked with. I am proud of you. You are the greatest of the female artists I have worked with in the last 30 years. #facts #yourock #labruja #truth #deejaydoc

Ivelise Namaste – You have always been a poet and artist that I aspired to meet, ever since I was a teenager. You are a legend that is spoken about with such beautiful words, a woman that I looked up to (and still do), an inspiration to so many Nuyorican poets, especially in the Latinx community. Then, when I finally met you in person, I was so amazed and appreciative of how welcoming and thoughtful you are and everything you represent is solid and real. You’ve inspired me to write, to be strong, to move on, to be a better role model, to talk about things that matter and to have a voice. You’re genuine, while also comical, down to earth, soul is one in a million. On that note, I’d love to continue learning from you and hope to make more memorable moments in the future.

Vanna Valdez – I admired you ever since I saw you perform on Def Poetry Jam. I got to work with you for the Bronx Museum Dreamers project where you guided me through writing and performing two poems about La Botanica and the people from the community. I felt so encouraged and supported and was able to work through my fear of “not being good enough”. I emerged a poet and we knocked it out of the ball park! And you sang and danced to the Orichas and I was floored. You are an amazing soul, I love you. Thank you for helping me to reclaim my power and my voice as an artist.
